Do you tip taxi drivers in Egypt?
Short answer
Round up
Agree the fare first, then round up.
OptionalCash preferred
Street taxis rarely use meters, agree a price before you get in, and round up when you pay. Uber and Careem operate in Cairo with fixed in-app pricing and optional tipping, and are far less stressful for visitors. A driver who waits for you or handles luggage deserves an extra 20–50 pounds.
