Do you tip taxi drivers in Greece?
Short answer
Round up the fare
Round the fare up to the nearest euro or two.
OptionalCash preferred
Greek taxi drivers do not expect a percentage. Rounding up is the norm. For an airport transfer, help with heavy luggage or a long late-night run, an extra €2–5 is generous rather than expected. Metered fares in Athens legally include surcharges for airport trips and luggage, which are not tips.
In practice
- A €18.20 fare → pay €20
- A €55 airport transfer with bags → pay €60
