Tipping is appreciated but never compulsory.

Greeks tip modestly and inconsistently. Nobody will chase you for a tip, and staff are paid a wage rather than living on gratuities. Small cash amounts are normal and warmly received. Round up, or leave 5–10% after a proper meal.

  • A cover or bread charge on the bill is not a tip and does not go to your server.
