Tipping in Spain is modest and genuinely optional. Locals leave coins after coffee or tapas and round up after a meal. Staff are on regular wages, so a tip is a thank-you rather than part of their income.

Round up, or 5–10%. Round up for a casual meal, 5–10% for a proper dinner. Leaving nothing is normal for a quick lunch. After a full dinner, rounding up or leaving 5–10% in cash is a warm gesture and common among visitors. Ten percent is at the generous end, not the baseline.
