Tipping in Turkey
Here's the tip.
Tipping, bahşiş, is common and appreciated.
Turks tip modestly and routinely. Five to ten percent in restaurants, small notes for porters and guides, and rounding up for taxis is the shape of it. Cash is strongly preferred, and tips matter more than usual because inflation has eroded service wages.

Card tipping. Some card terminals allow a tip, but cash is far more reliable and much more welcome. Restaurant tips added to a card payment often do not reach the server.
- Lira amounts move quickly with inflation. Where possible, think in percentages rather than fixed figures, and sanity-check small amounts against the current price of a coffee.
- A service charge (servis ücreti) is sometimes added in tourist-area restaurants. Check the bill before adding more.
- Hamam attendants are traditionally tipped 10–15%, given to the person who actually worked on you.
