Do you tip at cafés in Turkey?
Short answer
Round up
Round up, or leave the change.
OptionalCash preferred
Turkish tea and coffee at a local café needs no tip. Rounding up is a normal courtesy, and third-wave coffee shops in Istanbul have tip jars that go unused as often as not.
Common questions
- How much should you tip in cafés in Turkey?
- Round up, or leave the change.
- Can you tip by card in Turkey?
- Some card terminals allow a tip, but cash is far more reliable and much more welcome. Restaurant tips added to a card payment often do not reach the server.
