Do you tip taxi drivers in France?
Short answer
Round up
Round up, or add a euro or two. Nothing more.
OptionalCash preferred
Rough Guides is explicit that no tip is needed beyond a euro or two, which matches what most locals do. Lonely Planet is the outlier, singling France out with Switzerland as a place drivers expect 10 to 15%; no other source we checked supports that, so treat it as the outer bound rather than the expectation. Round up, and add a few euros on a long airport run or if the driver handles luggage. Uber and Bolt in-app tipping exists but is rarely used locally.
In practice
- A €47 Paris airport fare → pay €50
