Do you tip taxi drivers in Australia?
Short answer
Round up
Round up the fare, or nothing.
Optional
No percentage is expected. Rounding up to the nearest dollar or five is common. Uber, DiDi and Ola all offer optional in-app tipping. Airport and toll surcharges on the meter are official charges, not gratuities.
In practice
- A $37.60 fare → pay $40
