Card tipping. The Netherlands is close to cashless. Many places take card or Dutch debit only. Terminals usually let you enter a total including a tip (a fooi), so say the amount you want before the server enters it.
- Many restaurants and cafés do not accept cash at all. Check before assuming you can leave a note on the table.
- Some venues take Maestro or local debit only and refuse foreign credit cards. Carry a backup.
