Not compulsory, but small tips are common in Bali.
Indonesians do not traditionally tip, and there is no expectation at a warung or a local shop. In Bali's tourism economy small tips are routine and genuinely valued โ drivers, guides, villa staff and spa therapists all rely on them to top up modest wages.

Card tipping. Card terminals rarely have a tip option. Tip in cash rupiah; small notes are far more useful than large ones.
- Menus showing '++' mean a 10% service charge and 11% tax will be added. The service charge is usually shared among staff, so nothing further is required.
- Warungs and local eateries are not tipped.
- Break large notes when you can โ 10,000 and 20,000 rupiah notes are what you need for day-to-day tipping.

- Round up, or 5โ10%. Round up at a warung, 5โ10% at a restaurant without '++'. If the menu shows '++', service is already added and nothing more is needed. Elsewhere, rounding up or leaving 5โ10% in cash is normal in tourist areas and appreciated. Local warungs are not tipped.
